Wildlife Encounter Code of Conduct

Every guest is required to read, understand, and sign this Wildlife Encounter Code of Conduct before boarding any vessel or entering the water. Failure to comply with any rule will result in immediate termination of the excursion — with no refund.

Poseidon Ascend operates in the presence of orcas, whales, dolphins, sea lions, mobula rays, and other protected marine species. Their protection — and our ability to keep observing these animals from a respectful distance, without disturbing them — depends on the conduct of every person on the water.

The Rules

While on any Poseidon Ascend excursion, in or out of the water, guests will not:

1. Approach, pursue, chase, corner, or attempt to intercept any marine mammal or protected species.

2. Touch, reach toward, grab, or make physical contact with any wild animal.

3. Swim into, or fail to maintain, the minimum distances directed by the captain and guides and required under Mexican marine-protection law.

4. Block an animal’s path, separate mothers from young, or position themselves between animals.

5. Feed, bait, splash at, or attempt to alter the behavior of any animal.

6. Use flash photography, drones, or underwater scooters except as expressly authorized by the guides.

7. Enter the water, or remain in it, against the instruction of the captain or guides.

Why It Matters

Protecting Wildlife, Permits, and Your Safety

These rules exist to protect the animals, to protect the permits and licenses that make these encounters possible, and to protect the safety of every guest on board.

Interactions with orcas and other protected species are authorized under Mexican regulation (SEMARNAT) and are governed by strict conduct requirements. A single violation can endanger the license the entire operation and local captains depend on.

Consequences of Violation

Immediate Trip Cancellation — No Exceptions

If any guest breaks any rule above, their excursion will be ended immediately and their participation in the remainder of the program will be terminated — with no refund.

Guests may be held personally responsible for any fines, penalties, or enforcement action taken by Mexican authorities as a result of their conduct.

What You Are Signing

Before entering the water, every guest confirms the following:

I have been verbally briefed by the captain and the Poseidon Ascend team on these rules before entering the water.

I understand them, and I am signing freely.

I accept full responsibility for my own actions in and around wildlife.

I agree to follow the instructions of the captain and guides at all times, without exception.

This document is signed in person before each excursion. A copy is retained by Poseidon Ascend and provided to the guest upon request.
